The building was constructed in 1668 for Giovanni Controni. It was then purchased by the Massoni family during the first half of the XIXth century.
The enchanting private garden has been preserved in its original 1600's state. Four large raised flowerbeds form the center of the garden. Walkways throughout are bordered by ornate low walls, decorated with fascinating bas relief masks expertly crafted. The rear façade of the garden features a small pool presided over by marble sculptures of a woman, two eagles, and the family coat of arms supported by two dogs.
The vast apartment lies on the ground floor of the historic building, just a few steps from the street. In the living area, two large doors open onto the private garden. The living area consists of two large parlors, a huge dining room with a large round table, a large kitchen and a big laundry room with a washer and a dryer.
Off the entry hall there is an elegant office with murals covering the entire room.
The sleeping quarters are separated from the living area by an impressive corridor flanked by massive armoires, antique benches and tapestry.
There are three large double bedrooms and a single bedroom.
The single bedroom has a modern bathroom with shower en-suite.
The king bedroom has a marble bathroom with shower en-suite.
The other two double bedrooms share one huge charming bathroom with a tub.
A guest house across the garden from the apartment is also available for large parties wishing to rent Il Giardino Segreto. It consists of three levels: on the ground floor are a small kitchen and a living room; one flight up a single bedroom and a twin bedroom share a bathroom with shower; on the attic floor lies a large modern living room.
The guest house is not rented separately from the main apartment.
The main apartment comes with wifi, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, television.
About the Location
Perfectly located in the historic centre, the property offers a quiet location even though it’s just steps from anything you may need. The train station and parking are both only a 10-minute walk. Groceries and shops are just a short distance from the front door.
Self Catering Property: no staff, no maid, no breakfast nor meals, no hotel services. No daily stays: minimum a week. Lease in accordance with the italian Law 431 - 9 dic 1998 art.1, comma 2 letter c).
