The apartment is located on the last floor of a historical building, which was recently restored.
The building dates back to the 1600's. In the 1800's it was a famous inn, called La Locanda della Croce di Malta (the tavern of the Maltese cross), where the famous Italian writers Giovanni Pascoli and Alessandro Manzoni stayed in various occasions.
This is why we decided to call it Manzoni...although less celebrated in Lucca, than the beloved Giovanni Pascoli.
Not many people may know that Alessandro Manzoni had a special relationship with Lucca, not only because his daughter, Vittoria, married a famous aristocratic from Lucca, but also because he had cousins, the Counts Bianucci, who he frequently visited.
Withe the recent restoration, an elevator could be done so now the lift leads you from the street level up to the apartment door.
The apartment opens onto a wide day area furnished in a very modern sitting area and a fully equipped kitchen provided with top-quality electrical appliances: dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, electric oven, microwave, 5 gas cooker, Nespresso Coffee Maker - double doors no frost refrigerator .
Some steps leads you from the living room to the Altana which is really unusual. The fact it is covered by roof it is very important as you can enjoy it even when it rains and even in the late fall.. then when it is cold during the winter the altana can be closed by some transparent panels and it becomes another room.
In the night area there are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms.
One of the bedroom is double, one is twin or double (you can choose). In the smaller bedroom there is a sofa bed for a fifth guest. One bathroom has a bath tub and the other one has a shower enclosure. The apartment is fully air conditioned.
Also two bikes are at your the guests complete disposal..
The elevator is another great bonus... it allows you to get to the third floor (60 steps) without any troubles.... in all the historic centre there are very few building with elevator..
Bedroom's decoration is really sophisticated and hand made.
The location is also superb.
Few steps from the main Piazza Napoleone and Piazza san Michele, from the bus station and from parking on payment. free parking is located outside the city's walls .. 15 min walking away. Train station is 10 minutes walking away. Groceries and restaurants all around in the nearby..
Self Catering Property: no staff, no maid, no breakfast nor meals, no hotel services. No daily stays: minimum a week. Lease in accordance with the italian Law 431 - 9 dic 1998 art.1, comma 2 letter c).
